Micropigmentation, often referred to as permanent makeup, offers a gentle yet transformative solution for enhancing your natural beauty. Similar to tattooing but less invasive, micropigmentation involves the precise application of pigment to simulate eyebrows, lashes, lips, and areola that may have been lost due to illness, aging, or injury.
Personalised Results, Tailored to You
We understand that every individual is unique. That’s why our micropigmentation treatments are always customised to suit your preferences.
Confidence, Simplified Beauty
Micropigmentation isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about confidence and convenience. While it may not replace all the products in your makeup bag, it can significantly streamline your beauty routine. Say goodbye to the hassle of daily makeup application and hello to effortless beauty that lasts. Plus, with micropigmentation, you’ll feel confident and radiant anytime you choose to go makeup-free.
Quality and Safety Assured
Your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities. That’s why we use only the highest quality products and equipment, rigorously tested to exceed UK and European safety standards. We ensure you can trust that you’re in expert hands, receiving safe, effective, and long-lasting results.
Eyebrow Micropigmentation
Create shape, definition and add colour to your eyebrows. From non-existent over plucked brows to full, unruly or patchy brows. We will create the perfect brow to compliment your face shape and hair colour. We work with your natural hair and will only remove strays. At your consultation you will be advised and helped to choose the best style for you, your lifestyle and skin type. Realistic brows are our speciality. So whether it’s hair strokes, powder, ombré or a combination of techniques, you can be reassured your treatment will be personalised to suit your needs. All new eyebrow Micropigmentation treatments include a complimentary 6-8 week review appointment. This is to assess the results from your first treatment and make any necessary tweaks.
Hair Stroke Brow
This technique uses soft delicate, strokes to simulate the look of natural eyebrow hair. Sometimes referred to as feather strokes or brushstrokes.
Shaded / Powder Brow
A shading technique is used to give colour and shape to the brow area. This can be done to resemble a soft tint or the look of powder makeup application if you like a stronger look.
Shaded Ombré
A shading technique is used to create a more subtle colour at the front of the brow and a stronger more defined brow arch and tail.
Combination Brow
Combining hair stroke and shading techniques. Very popular if you like the look of a more structured shaded brow with a soft delicate front of a hair stroke brow.
Colour Refresh
Maintain and refresh the look of your brows by redefining the shape and restore faded colour to your micropigmentation. We recommend this as 12-24 month single treatment. Each persons timeframe varies due to skin condition, age, medication, lifestyle etc. If you are unsure if it’s time to visit us again, just send a picture of your brows to the clinic and we will help advise you. If you have left it longer than recommended to have your colour refreshed it’s no problem. You can still have one treatment, however a second colour refresh may be necessary at a later date.
Guy Brow
Hair loss affects both men and women. Having your brows tattooed does not have to mean perfectly shaped, groomed eyebrows. Whether it’s to fill-in sparse areas or provide fullness to gents brows. Micropigmentation can be done very subtly, mimicking the look of hair growth.
Lip Blush Micropigmentation
Say goodbye to smudged, faded lipstick and hello to effortlessly beautiful lips that last all day long. Our lip micropigmentation treatments are designed to restore shape, add fullness and definition, and enhance your natural lip colour for a fresh and vibrant look.
- Restore Lost Shape and Colour: Whether your natural lip colour is fading with age or dermal fillers have altered their appearance, lip micropigmentation can restore lost colour and definition.
- Fullness and Definition: Create the illusion of fuller, more defined lips without the need for constant reapplication of lipstick or lip liner.
- Long-lasting Results: Our lip micropigmentation treatments provide lasting colour and definition, eliminating the hassle of smudging, transferring, or drying out your lips.
- Customised Solutions: From subtle lip blush to full lip colour, we offer tailored treatments to suit your preferences and desired look.
Eyeliner
A natural look can be achieved using a soft, subtle liner through the lashes to make them appear thicker. A stronger shaded eyeliner can be done for a more kohl look, or even a winged liner to add a permanent flick.
There are lots of eyeliner styles and techniques available. You can discuss at your consultation what would suit your style best as well as compliment your eye shape. If you like to wear heavy or dark eyeshadows then eyeliner micropigmentation will never completely replace wearing traditional eyeliner, but it will make application easier and on occasions when you choose to go makeup free it will be much more visible creating definition for the eye. Eyeliner Micropigmentation is also an excellent way for anyone who has lost their eyelashes to create the illusion of a lash line.
Winged Eyeliner
Pigment is implanted along the lash line and slightly above the lashes extending to a flick at the outer corner of the eye. This can be done with a crisp sharp edge or a soft shaded finish. This is a statement look and it’s not suitable for everyone, as some eye shapes and skin types may prevent you from having this specific eyeliner style. This can be discussed at your consultation.
Shaded / Smokey Eyeliner
Pigment is implanted along the lash line and above using a smudgy, shading technique to create a kohl effect. This will make lashes appear much fuller and will suit most skin types and eye shapes. It’s perfect if you are looking for a more glamorous look.
Classic Eyeliner
Pigment is implanted through and along the lash line with no flick or smudged effect. It is available in a variety of colours. This is the most subtle, natural looking eyeliner style. It is suitable for most eye shapes and skin types. This style adds the look of volume and thickness to the lashes and is especially popular with clients who have lost their natural eyelashes.
Guy Liner
It’s not just women who want definition for the eye area. Mimic the look of fuller lashes and help reduce the look of sparse or missing eyelashes. We alter our technique for this procedure to ensure this treatment will not look like make up.
Lower Eyeliner
Pigment is implanted into the skin along the lower lash line. This compliments the look of any upper eyeliner treatment. Suitable for most eye shapes and skin types, although it’s not recommended to have as a stand alone treatment as it can result in the eyes looking bottom heavy.
Lash Enhancement
Pigment is implanted softly through the lash line. This gives subtle definition to the eyes and makes eyelashes look thicker. Perfect for anyone looking for subtle, soft every day wear without the look of wearing eyeliner.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Micropigmentation?
Micropigmentation is very similar to tattooing, but it is less traumatic in application. It will gradually fade over time, but won’t completely disappear on its own, hence it sometimes being referred to as permanent makeup. Micropigmentation can help to simulate eyebrows, lashes, lips and areola that have been lost to illness, ageing or injury. Once you have micropigmentation, we recommend a colour refresh every 1-2 years to keep everything looking fresh and defined.
Micropigmentation is best when created to give a natural look and this is always our goal. Therefore it will not replace all the products in your makeup bag, however it can help to give you the confidence of feeling and looking good any time you decide to go makeup free, as well as making application of traditional makeup quicker and easier.
Is it a tattoo?
Permanent Makeup, Cosmetic Tattooing, Micropigmentation, Nano Brows, Powder Brows, Combo Brows, Hair stroke Brows, Digital Microblading, PMU, Microblading, Signature Brows, Feather Brows and so many more names. Guess what? they are all the same thing and yes they are all tattoos.
Semi-Permanent Makeup or SPMU is also a tattoo. There is no such thing as Semi-Permanent. It’s an oxymoron, it doesn’t exist! It will not disappear. Historically this term was used to describe Permanent Makeup as it fades over time, (as all tattoos do), so it will need a colour refresh every 12-18 months. If you ever decide you don’t want to anymore you would have to have it removed like any other tattoo.
Microblading is also a tattoo. Any treatment or procedure where Ink or Pigment is placed into the skin is a tattoo.
How long does Micropigmentation last?
Some Pigment/Ink molecules can stay in the skin indefinitely however the colour will gradually fade over time. Colour retention varies and each person, age, skin type, colour choice and lifestyle can affect how long your treatment results will last. A colour refresh is recommended every 12-24 months. Please note there is no guarantee pigment will completely disappear overtime. This is why Micropigmentation is also referred to as permanent make up.
Is Micropigmentation the same as Microblading?
Microblading has been around for a very long time. It does not involve costly machines and typically it’s quite a quick, affordable technique to learn for technicians. Most clients will want a “natural” look. Since Microblading is predominately hair strokes/feather technique you may associate the word Microblading with natural soft feathery brows. The truth is Microblading is not suitable for every persons skin. It can cause a lot more trauma and scarring too. If you are lucky and have the perfect skin for microblading as well as a good technician, the results can be very nice. However most people are more suitable for Micropigmentation as it causes less trauma to the skin. Both techniques when done properly can produce extremely natural results. JDN Micropigmentation can perform Microblading but choose not to. This speaks for itself!
Is the procedure painful?
Everyone has a different pain tolerance. Using advanced techniques and equipment we will ensure you remain comfortable at all times.
Do I get to choose colours, style and shape for my treatment?
Yes absolutely! As professionals we will advise you on possible colour choices to suit your skin tone, placement and shape etc… nothing is final until you have agreed and are 100% happy.
How long do treatments take?
Treatment times can very between 90 minutes to 3 hours. Thorough consultation is done prior to each treatment commencing. Each treatment time also allows for relevant forms to be completed and comfort breaks. Please try to be on time for your appointment. No treatment will ever be rushed so if you are late you may be turned away. Do not come to your appointment hungry. Having a tattoo of any kind puts the body under some strain If you are hungry, sugar levels are low or caffeine levels are high it can cause the procedure to affect you detrimentally.
What happens after the procedure?
Immediately after treatment the area may appear swollen/puffy and the colour will appear darker and more intense. This will last for several days. Any swelling will gradually subside. Wound healing takes between 7 to 10 days however complete healing, skin regeneration and pigment settling can take up to 6 weeks. You will be given all the appropriate after-care to use at home to help your Micropigmentation heal perfectly with minimum discomfort. There will be some things you should avoid during the healing time is will be explained to you in more depth at your consultation. You will be asked to return for a complimentary review appointment 6 to 8 weeks after your original treatment. This gives us a chance to make sure everything is perfect for you and make any necessary tweaks or adjustments.
Can I have hair strokes forever?
Only if you allow the previous work to fade enough before having a colour refresh.
Over time hair strokes fade and lose essential elements of colour, meaning you will need a retouch. If you have colour refreshed too often or when it’s not needed you may experience a buildup of colour and as a result lose the definition in your hair stroke brows. At this point you may have to embrace the technique of shading/powder or opt to have some lifting or removal of old pigment.
How do I choose the right technician for me?
Please do your research before committing to any Micropigmentation procedure. Please make sure you research the technicians work and ensure you like their style of work and techniques. Anyone carrying out Micropigmentation should have themselves and their premises registered with the local council and for all bylaws to comply with health and safety. Josephine De Nardo is currently registered with Glasgow City Council and holds all relevant certifications, insurances, licenses and qualifications. Allergy Alert tests and thorough consultations are always carried out prior to your appointment. A consultation is important to discuss your requirements, get to know your technician and ensure you feel comfortable and confident with them. During a consultation Josephine will discuss the treatment, colour choice, shape position and technique as well as answer any other questions you may have.
Will the treatment affect my hair growth?
The hair will still grow as normal, and will still require maintenance (waxing/threading/tweezing) to keep the sheep groomed. If you have blonde or grey hair over the brow Micropigmentation, you may still need to use tint or brow mascara to colour the hair.
Does my eyebrow hair need to be shaved off?
Never! Tattoo artists sometimes shave an area to help see where their design is being placed, before they start. Any stray hairs that are not in the shape of the final look will be removed, to achieve a groomed brow. Please don’t shave or over pluck your brows before coming to us as this can affect the implantation of pigment. If you do decide to have your brows waxed before your appointment it should be no less than seven days prior.
I’ve had my treatment done elsewhere. Can you work over other technicians work?
After a consultation we will advise if it is possible to “go over” the previous work. Sometimes it is possible and we are more than happy to accommodate. However unfortunately sometimes we have to say no.
It’s been more than two years since I last had my treatment done can I still have a colour refresh?
Just send a picture or come for a consultation. We will then be able to advise you if one session will be enough. Some people hold onto colour really well so a colour refresh will be no problem. Some people will have nothing left at all. It’s always best to check first.
Can I have it done if I get filler or anti-wrinkle injections?
Yes, but not if it’s been less than two weeks since you had any aesthetic treatments. Also it’s not advisable for you to have any treatments like this done between your initial Micropigmentation appointment and your review appointment.
Can I have Micropigmentation done if I am about to start hospital treatment?
Yes you can. As long as you have not already started any immune compromising treatment (chemotherapy etc). If you were hoping to have Micropigmentation done urgently before starting any hospital treatment please contact the clinic for a priority appointment.
Can men have micropigmentation done?
Of course! Hair loss happens to both men and women. Micropigmentation can be a fantastic solution for any eyebrow or eyelash hair loss issues.
Can you have Micropigmentation done at any age?
As long as you’re not under 18.
Will my medication or underlying health conditions prevent me from being able to have Micropigmentation?
Some health conditions and medication can contraindicate you to having the treatment done. You can discuss any issues like this at your consultation. If you’d like to check before booking you can request a pre-treatment medical form to be emailed to you prior to making an appointment.
What happens if I book a consultation and can’t have the treatment done or decide not to go ahead ?
This is no problem. Consultations are free. The deposit is refunded to you if you cannot, or decide not to go ahead with the treatment. If you do decide to proceed at a later date with treatment the deposit can go towards the cost of your treatment. Deposit are only required to secure bookings and avoid Clinic no-shows.
What happens if I book an appointment and need to change or cancel?
All appointments require a £50 deposit to book. This is to help avoid clinic no-shows and will be deducted from the cost of your treatment on the day. However we do understand sometimes life gets in the way and things happen that we don’t plan for. As long as we have 48 hours notice, we are more than happy to reschedule or cancel your appointment for you. We will do our best to reallocate an appointment time for you, but please bear in mind we are usually fully booked months in advance so you may need to wait a while. If you fail to attend an appointment or cancel within 48 hours of your appointment your deposit will be void.
Josephine is an absolute pro, provides a super slick service in lovely environment. Highly recommend.
